Six Things You Shouldn’t Assume When It Comes To Electric Bikes

Electric bikes can offer a fun and convenient way to get around. However, there are some inaccurate assumptions that a lot of people make that discourage them from enjoying the advantages of riding an electric bike.

The following are six things you shouldn't assume when it comes to electric bikes.

Electric bikes move at dangerously high speeds

In general, electric bikes don't travel at much higher speeds than normal bikes. Usually, an electric bike's motor will stop running if the bike is going faster than a certain speed.

Electric bikes generally only go faster than traditional bikes in uphill situations. This makes them less difficult to ride uphill without creating any increased injury or accident risks.

Riding an electric bike is not good exercise

A biker can burn just as many calories and get just as much exercise on an electric bike as they can get on a traditional bike. An electric bike can allow a biker to go further and bike longer in uphill situations with less fatigue. This doesn't mean that a biker doesn't really get any exercise on an electric bike.

It costs a lot to buy an electric bike

While electric bikes do generally cost more than traditional bikes, they don't have to be very expensive. If you shop around, you will probably find that electric bikes are significantly less expensive than you were expecting. There is probably an electric bike model on the market that fits your budget.

Electric bikes are not environmentally friendly

Although electric bikes run on electricity, they are not generally bad for the environment. Traveling by electric bike is much better for the environment than traveling in a vehicle that runs on gas and therefore contributes to greenhouse gases.

Electric bikes malfunction a lot

Electric bikes should not malfunction frequently as long as they are properly used and maintained. You can keep your electric bike properly maintained by having your brakes, gears, and motor inspected once in a while. You also should regularly lubricate your electric bike's chain and make sure your tires are properly inflated.

Electric bikes are always very heavy

Electric bikes are slightly heavier than standard bikes because they have a motor that adds weight. However, you can find lighter-weight electric bikes on the market if you do your research and if weight is a big concern for you. A well-designed, high-quality electric bike doesn't have to be extremely heavy.
